Each year, we take a moment to recognize our valued employer partners who have crossed key milestones in their mentoring journeys, starting with 100 mentoring matches, and proceeding to 500, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, and now 2,500. This video features TD, a founding partner to TRIEC Mentoring Partnership, on hitting the unprecedented and unmatched milestone of 2,500 mentoring partnerships.

Since the program’s inception in 2004, TD has consistently been the first to achieve those mentoring milestones. Going back to 2010 they were close to 700 mentoring matches, 1,000 in 2012, 1,500 in 2018, 2,000 in 2020 and now over 2,500 mentoring partnerships to date. The most of all our employer partners.

Our employer partners view this partnership to boost the cross-cultural communication and leadership skills of their employees.

“This program enables our mentors to develop their leadership and coaching capabilities. It helps them to learn about different cultures and helps to build and foster inclusivity within the workplace”. Says Ayana Robertson, Associate Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion, TD Bank Group and Executive Sponsor for TRIEC Mentoring Partnership.

“We are very privileged to work with an organization like TRIEC that allows us to reach, hire, develop and learn from some of the best and brightest talent”.

Robertson is joined by Joanne Gracious, Human Resources Program Specialist, Diversity & Inclusion, Corporate Human Resources, she speaks to the value she sees in mentoring for both newcomers and TD.

“The heroes of the program are our colleagues” says Joanne Gracious. “They volunteer their time and sign up to share their knowledge to build their networks and to build the network of the mentee as well – helping them to get job-ready”.

TRIEC are so grateful to TD’s mentors, who give their valuable time helping newcomers find meaningful employment. In the last fiscal year ending March 2023, 78% of participants in the program found employment within 3 months of completing the program, and that demonstrates the critical role of their mentors in providing newcomers with the tools they need to succeed in the Canadian labour market.
